Sermon: Blessings and Woes

“The Beatitudes”, “The Sermon on the Mount”, or “The Sermon on the Plain”…..
Maybe what we need to do is get a glimpse of the reign of God, that says what the world chases is not of eternal value. What the world chases is not what the kingdom of God is about. The good news is that if we recognize our need, if we recognize that we are not God, that if we recognize that Jesus is our Savior, then we receive the blessings that Jesus talks about. Not that he wants to hold them back from us but because then, we can receive them. Blessing or woe… blessing or curse. What is it for us? What is our attitude? Who is our god?

Katrina Mission: Rebuilding Slidell

We have all heard of Katrina, the destructive hurricane which devastated New Orleans Louisiana in August of 2005. What most of us do not know, is that most of the damage has not yet been addressed, and that numerous volunteer efforts by groups all over the United States have augmented the formal governmental repair efforts.
