Slidell Mission Team Pot-Luck

The world premier of the 2007 St. John’s Slidell, LA mission team presentation will be shown at St. John’s on April 29th at 4 PM. This PowerPoint slide show is drawn from over 1,600 hundred photos taken during the February mission trip. We owe our special thanks to Claire Bloom, who continues to serve as the team’s photojournalist. She has spent countless hours in Slidell and at home photographing, interviewing, writing and producing the narrative and photo record of our journey. Claire helps us tell the stories from the resilient Katrina survivors who have blessed us with their welcome.

Following a brief introduction, the twenty-five minute slide show will be shown. Mary Chapin Carpenter music, dedicated to the Katrina survivors and victims, accompanies the presentation.

Please bring a dish to share, and join us for food and conversation in Hartford Hall following the presentation. Mission team members will be at each table to share some of our stories, and to answer any questions.

A free will offering for Northshore Disaster Inc., our hosts while in Slidell, will be available for anyone wishing to contribute to ongoing reconstruction.

We have begun planning a one-week mission trip to Slidell in February, 2008. The team will be capped at 15 members, as recommended by Volunteers in Mission (VIM). A second week during February school vacation is under consideration by the Youth Group. Dates will be announced on April 29.

Please call Team Leaders Patrick Murphy (603.868.2322) or Mike Willett (207.748.3431) with any questions, or for more information.
