We lose a saint

I share the sad news for us, but joyful news for her, of Marion Bowen’s death. Here is the obituary, with information about her funeral
Marion Edith Bowen
DOVER - Marion Edith Bowen, 98, of Wentworth Home, Central Avenue, died on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1909, in Dover, the daughter of James Henry and Louise Mary (Smith) Bowen.
Marion graduated from McIntosh College in Dover. She was the senior vice president of the Strafford National Bank (TD Banknorth) in Dover where she worked for 42 years prior to her retirement in 1974.
Being a lifelong resident of Dover she was very active within her community. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 75 years and was on the Board of Stewards. She was a member of the Board of Managers at the Wentworth Home and on the Board of Trustees and was the secretary for the Wentworth Home also. She was a Camp Fire Girl, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Dover Woman’s Club, past president of the Dover Business and Professional Women’s Club, also a member of the Quota Club of Dover and a chapter member, and a member of the Eastern Star of Dover.
Marion is survived by her two nieces, Patricia Jamison of Laconia, and Vicki Van Zandt of Jacksonville, Fla.; a great nephew and three great nieces; three great-great nieces and four great-great nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., one hour prior to a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, with Rev. Mark Monson Alley of St. John’s United Methodist Church, officiating.
