Adult Bible Study

An Adult Bible Study will be offered by The Rev. Nancy Jo Johnson for three Thursday mornings in August. The dates are August 2, 9 & 16 from 9:30-11AM in Hartford Hall. We will study the First Book of John (1 John). There is no cost for this study.

The study promised to offer different and exciting approaches to studying the Bible, based on the book, Biblical Intrepretation: A Road Map, by F.C. Tiffany and S.H. Ringe. The approach to reading scripture includes looking at the historical, cultural, and social settings found in the text, and comparing those settings to our lives today. We will discuss the commonalities between us and those found in th text that may or may not exist, and how these apply to us today.

Come, join us for this exciting, fun and very useful study. Bring a Bible, and if possible bring the New International (NIV), or The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). If you don’t have your own study Bible, we have them available from the church library. The Good News Bible and The Message are useful as a companion text, and hopefully there will be a variety used in the class.

Please let us know if you’re planning to attend. Call Nanc Jo at 659-9604, or Sandy in the church office, 742-3046. Do come and invite a friend or two. Looking forward to seeing you all!
