Advent Study Groups
There are several opportunities to take part in Advent Studies as we near the Christmas season. Some groups will be preparing their hearts by looking at seasonal hymns; studying the origins, the memories they evoke and what the words mean to us in relation to the Bible. One group will meet on Monday mornings at the church from 8:30 to 9:30 beginning Nov. 26 with the Rev. Mark Monson-Alley. A similar group will meet at the home of Bruce and Donna McAdam at 6:30 for three Wednesdays for soup and study beginning Nov. 28. Two other groups–one daytime and one evening are in the planning. Watch your bulletin and the sign up sheets in fellowship hall beginning Sunday, Nov 18 for more details.
Another important small group will be led by the Rev. Earle Custer. Entitled “Managing Finances During the Holidays and Into the New Year”, this three week workshop will offer concrete ideas for individuals and families who want to get a better handle on their financial matters. Please check Hartford Hall for details.
This year there will also be a special Advent group for children on two Thursday nights (Dec. 13 and 20) at the church from 6 to 7. They, too, will be looking at Christmas hymns. This group will be led by Natalie Hanson and assisted by Amie McGlauflin. Sign-ups in Hartford Hall.
