Souper Bowl Sunday
Souper Bowl Sunday is February 3rd this year and as usual, the youth groups will be standing in the back of the church, dressed in their favorite NFL team gear, collecting money in soup pots. Last year $8,170,198 was collected nationally by organizations participating in this drive to fight hunger! In the past, we have donated our proceeds to the Dover Food Pantry and Friendly Kitchen, but this year we’d like to try something new. We will be taking the money and buying soup pots, which will be blessed similarly to our prayer shawls. We then hope members of the congregation will help us fill these pots with soup to be delivered to the sick, needy, weary, etc. We got the idea from a letter from Bishop Peter Weaver encouraging us to think about giving throughout the year and not just at the holidays. Do you know someone who could use a little warming of the heart and soul with a gift from St. John’s? Sign up to take a pot on the bulletin board in Hartford Hall. Thanks!
