Katrina Mission Adult Team Day 4 with photos

Early in the morning Fred (the neighbor) brought over some hot muffins (ymmm good) for us, and showed us photos of his home following his return which wasn’t until after both Katrina and Rita.  Then Ervin arrived (the homeowner) and he joined us for lunch.  He was very grateful for food since he had no breakfast that morning.  Here is a shot of us at lunch (Dave photo).  After lunch, we returned to the worksite and worked hard last night, not quitting until 5:00, and got a lot accomplished.  I will post some “before” and “after” photos on Friday or Saturday.  Last night we enjoyed Sloppy Daves, a take off on Sloppy Joes using Dave Willome’s recipe.  Yum Yum!Back at work this morning was easier after a full night’s rest in a very comfortable facility thanks to Covenant UMC here in Arabi, Louisiana.

Here is Hugh Craft, the President of the School Board here, a member of Covenant UMC, our host, and a rotarian.  He has invited Patrick and me to go to his Rotary Club meeting tomorrow for lunch, and we are grateful to accept.  This is one of Patrick’s photos.

Dave’s photo below shows the row of homes leading to Ervin’s home.  The first, Fred and Sharon’s modular home, has been up a year.  Next to that is one due to be torn down, a brick facade over an empty shell, and then Ervin’s house.  My shot of Fred’s house shows how lovely it is, and there are many lovely homes in the neighborhood where people have rebuilt.

The following are just shots of us at work.  We have had a couple of minor injuries, but nothing serious so far.  Keep praying!

It grew quite cool in the evening, so today I was out scrambling for super glue to heal wounds, duct tape, tool belts and sweat shirts.  It did warm up nicely by lunch time.

Tonight we are going to join Covenant UMC for a baked lasagne dinner, so we should have some stories to share after then.

In God’s love, and In God’s Service,

Claire
