Flowers

I have been taking pictures of the flowers on the altar at St John’s United Methodist Church for awhile now, and have been wanting to share them with you.
When sitting in the congregation on Sunday morning, I think we only get a “long distance” view of the flowers. Yes, they help make the altar and the chancel area beautiful, and enhance our worship experience, but I think we may be missing much of the real, almost hidden, beauty of God’s creation, being given to us in these flowers.
I hope these pictures open up some of that beauty for you.
A special thank you to all who donated these beautiful flowers, and also to those who took the time to arrange them in the front of the Sanctuary. Thank you! … and, Well Done!
The background music is the congregation singing “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” (vs. 1-5), Hymn # 302 in the United Methodist Hymnal, during one of the Easter services this year.
Praise God for the beauty of the Easter flowers!

PS: A technical / artistic note: I have found it interesting to capture the flowers, first, with just the ambient room light, including the light coming in the large windows. And then, secondly, to turn my camera flash on for a second shot. The contrast in coloration can be remarkable! ….and sometimes, breath-taking!
