News & Notes (brief)
Hi St. John’s Church!
A couple things need to shared with you in a timely fashion, so I’m sending this note out this afternoon.
We have been invited to dinner this Thursday, June 4th, at 6:30 PM, at our own church — with the UM ARMY (United Methodist Action Reach-out Ministry by Youth) as our hosts. They invite the client individuals/families that they have worked with through the week, as well as the members of the host church. Dinner will be a chicken/spaghetti meal that has been described as delicious!! They would love to know if you’re coming, though, so they can have the proper amount of food prepared. If you can come, please call the church office by tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4:30 PM — to make your reservation. After dinner there will be a brief worship service and presentation about the UM ARMY ministry.
The second thing to mention is that we have a date for our next “restaurant fund raiser.” If you’re an ice cream lover, and have it in you budget to go out for dinner and/or ice cream on the third week of June, we’ll be having another Friendly’s Ice Cream fund raiser, from 5 till 8 PM, on Wednesday, June 17th, at the Dover Friendly’s — on Central Avenue. (Last year we went to Friendly’s and received $313.95. Last month we went to UNO’s, and received $213.99.) We know this is short notice, but if you’re like me, it doesn’t take long to build an appetite for ice cream!!
