Trustee News
St. John’s is no longer the “new” building. As a way to anticipate maintenance needs as well as new capital acquisitions, a Long-Term Planning committee will meet to try to set up a five year plan for upkeep and maintenance of the church, building and grounds. The Together for Tomorrow Fund will be one way to cover these needed expenses. Currently the Trustees do not have a budget line for major capital repairs, but rely on donations and/or memorial funds each year.
This month, the Trustees voted to install a dehumidification system in the sanctuary. This was needed to maintain the organ. If this sounds familiar, a humidification system was installed in 2008, as well. The organ bellows need humidity in the winter when dry heat can damage them, but also need dehumidification in the damp summer months. The money to pay for this came from the MacKenzie Organ Fund.
The office folding machine needed to be replaced this month as well. Sandy researched the options and got a good price reduction. There were some personal donations to cover most of the cost, with the balance coming from the Chase Capital Assets Fund.
We thank those who made these and other repairs possible.
