Mission Project Update

Worship with Louisiana flair is coming to both services on Sunday, October 11. Using music, video and story telling, the 2010 Katrina Mission Team will help the congregation connect with people whose homes and lives we helped rebuild during five previous mission trips.

Our next mission trip to St. Bernard’s Parish, LA is scheduled from April 17 – 25, 2010. This includes two days of travel each way, with Saturday overnights in Roanoke, VA. To reduce time away from home and work, some members opt to fly at reasonable additional cost. The team is already closing in on a dozen members, including several teenagers.

The team stays at Reaching Out In Love Relief Center, along the banks of the Mississippi River in Violet, LA. Wonderful meals are provided by our hosts, and special dietary requests are possible. Our new construction manager, The St. Bernard Project www.stbernardproject.org , is a few minutes away. SBP received CNN’s national “2009 Hero of the Year” award, and has completed over two hundred homes in the Parish.
