Garden Committee Update

The garden fencing and compost bin are in place and the soil was recently tilled, thanks to Mr. Cheney. Winter rye is planted and the beds are tucked in for the season under a blanket of snow.

We would like our new garden to have a name. In keeping with its mission of teaching and community outreach, we welcome everyone’s suggestions. You can submit them through Marsha Pelletier or Judith Custer. The committee will meet shortly after the January 15th deadline and make their selection, to be announced during services on “Groundhog Sunday”, January 31st.

The Garden Committee will also provide refreshments and deserts between services that day, featuring “goodies” from the western Pennsylvania region. So please plan to attend that day, participate in the merriment and hope that Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t see his shadow on February 2nd.
