News & Notes (special)

Greetings Folks,

I’m sending this special issue of News & Notes, with two things to share with you.

Some of you may not have gotten the word yet, but our brother in Christ, Cliff Kincaid, went on to glory this past Friday evening.  His body continued to develop “issue” after “issue,” and his family unanimously and graciously chose to withdraw life support - which they believe would have been Cliff’s wishes.  Cliff’s funeral will be at St. John’s Church at 11 AM on Wednesday.  There won’t be any visiting hours.  But there will be a reception in Hartford Hall after the funeral, and I’m sure Claramae and her crew would love to have desserts baked for this event, if you are able.  Please hold Cliff’s family and his good friend, Bobbie Garneau, in your prayers.

Then Mike Weinberger asked me to share this note with you about this coming Saturday’s Public BBQ Supper:

“Hi all,

Y’all got your rally caps on? Here goes:

Next Saturday morning, my daughter Michaela is being picked up from her Off-Broadway camp at Wanakee over in Meredith, NH. Originally Tina was planning to be there but now she has to work and can’t get out of it so that leaves me to go get her. I could arrange a ride home but T and I made a promise that one of us would be there to see the musical that they’ll be working very hard on this week and now the ‘we’ is ‘me’.

Long story short, I won’t be [at the church on Saturday] morning as I had planned and that leaves some work to be done by you guys. Some of the things are:

Picking up the chicken from Janetto’s Market (it’ll be halved already)
Dry rubbing the chicken (I’ll have the seasonings mixed in the spice cabinet)
‘Marking’ the chicken on the grill- I was planning to only mark it on our grill and then finish it off in the ovens.

I can realistically be at the church by 1:30 PM and can finish the chickens in the oven with the wet sauce but there will also be quite a bit of work to do from 2pm on, like cooking off the corn and making the cole slaw and mixing and cooking the biscuits, prepping the garden greens, etc. We need about 4 people at 2pm to help if any of you are available. I know this is last minute but hey, it makes it more exciting!

Much appreciated, Mike”

That’s all the news that I have.  Remember there won’t be issues of “News & Notes” this week or next.  Peace, Mark
