Yankee Pot Roast Dinner for Katrina Mission
Enjoy a delicious Yankee Pot Roast dinner on Saturday December 4 at St. John’s Methodist Church, Dover. Dinner hours are 4:30-6pm and the cost is adults $8, seniors $7 and $4 for children under 12. The menu includes a full pot roast dinner plus dessert and beverages.
Proceeds from this dinner support the church’s upcoming mission trip to help rebuild communities still devastated from Hurricane Katrina. Enjoy a great dinner while assisting the ongoing efforts to rebuild the New Orleans area!
Our 7th Katrina mission team departs for Louisiana on February 19 and returns home on February 27, 2011. We are living and working in St Bernard Parish, adjacent to New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward. The St Bernard Project (www.stbernardproject.org) remains our construction manager. To date, over 310 families have come home. 800 families remain in FEMA trailers, and 6,000 homeowners are unable to afford to rebuild their homes.
Adults and teenagers age 14 or more are encouraged to listen for God’s call to serve Him on mission amongst these families. The experience can be a transformative one, and a significant step along one’s faith journey. If you are considering joining us, begin to get to know each other by helping prepare and serve the December 4th supper. Chef Mike Weinberger is our kitchen leader.
To join or to learn more about this mission trip, call or email Patrick Murphy @ 603.557.2781 or murphnyjets10@yahoo.com. The estimated fee is $325, and financial assistance is available. December 4 is the preliminary target date for joining the team. Orientation is scheduled for early January, after the holiday season.
