At St. John’s UMC we believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and express our commitment to God’s Kingdom by the manner in which we live our daily lives. This committee provides a multitude of opportunities to serve and minister to others, as well as a variety of levels at which to be active in mission. Some of our ongoing programs include: Dover Children’s Home, My Friend’s Place, Seacoast Family Promise, End 68 Hours of Hunger, Dover Friendly Kitchen, Dover Cooperative Ministries, Volunteers in Mission (mission trips to Louisiana, Haiti, and Guatemala), and The Share Fund.
In addition, we are working to meet three new goals by 2015:
- to create at least two faith-based support groups to meet community needs;
- to collaborate with Dover’s interfaith network in identifying and providing for unmet needs of our homeless population;
- to recruit a team of parishioners to adopt a classroom at a Dover elementary school, for the purpose of working with students on a regular basis.
We support, encourage and believe in group and individual ministries. From financial support to active physical participation, we welcome all who would like to partake in any of our missional programs, either ones established or ones being newly formed.
