Youth Group
Youth group meets on Sundays from 3:30-6 PM (unless otherwise noted). From 3:30-4:00 PM is snack and social time (many in our group do not attend the same school and need time to “catch up” with one another). At 4:00 PM we settle down into our devotion time followed by the plans of the day.
Our youth group consists of two age groups - junior high (grades 6-8) and senior high (9-12). Most weeks the two groups meet separately, but for some events, we do combine the groups. We try to balance our time between devotions, mission and fun. The teen years can be difficult, and it is our goal to provide a safe place for each youth to be his/herself while growing in their faith. Everyone is welcome at youth group, and we use Ephesians 4:29 as a model for how we treat one another:
Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words,
the kind that build up and provide what is needed,
so that what you say will do good to those who hear you.
To further show our commitment to the safety of our children and youth, we have created a Safe Sanctuary Policy for St. John’s.
