Every ministry at St. John’s is a ministry of prayer, but one special area is leading the congregation to focus on a vision of prayer as the heartbeat of our ministry.
Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made.
Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and acknowledging our dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of all peoples from all over the world. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the eternal.
Draw near to Me and I shall draw near to you, for I am the source that you seek.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds.
In Your mercy, hear our prayers.
HOW TO SUBMIT A PRAYER REQUEST
1. E-Mail the Coordinator and give her/him the following information.
A. You must have the CONSENT of the person wishing to have their concern or themselves placed on the Prayer Chain before doing so. People’s privacy needs to be respected and not invaded, regardless of good intentions.
B. Name of the person to pray for (If the name is not to be given, just the situation.)
C. Request (i.e. peace, healing, wisdom, etc.) KEEP INFORMATION BRIEF.
D. Immediacy of the need (i.e. in ICU, tests to be done tomorrow, decision needed by, etc.)
E. Try to keep the prayer request as clear and concise as possible to avoid confusion, giving only pertinent details.
2. Please continue to keep us updated on the progress or outcome of the situation so that we know how to continue praying.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE PRAYER CHAIN
Everyone is welcome to become a member of the Prayer Chain. Please contact the Coordinator or speak to the Pastor.
MEMBERS: When you receive a prayer request, pass it along as soon as possible to the member immediately after you on the list. If that person is not at home, continue with the next member on your list until you reach someone. Please remember to keep trying to reach the member(s) that you by-passed to let them know what the prayer request is and that you have called it on in their absence.
