Staff/Parish Relations Committee

St. John’s Church is blessed with a full staff of excellently qualified employees who undergird the ministries of our entire congregation.  The Committee responsible for oversight of the employed staff is called the Staff/Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).  The Committee is responsible for creation of job descriptions and the employee handbook, hiring, supervising, and recommending salary and benefit packages. 

The employed Lay staff include the Office Manager (37.5 hours/week), Music Director (20 hours/week), Custodian (12 hours/week), Youth Director (8 hours/week), Nursery Coordinator (3-4 hours/week), Financial Secretary (2.5 hours/week), and Treasurer (5-7 hours/month). 

As directed by the United Methodist Book of Discipline, the SPRC also consults with the District Superintendent concerning issues pertaining to the appointment of the ordained Clergy.  And they also help create an “atmosphere of call” in the congregation — always keeping an eye and ear open to discern God’s calling to ordained ministry upon the life of a member of the congregation.
