Frederick C. Walker Heritage Foundation
The purpose of the Walker Heritage Foundation is to support the church mission of making disciples by raising endowment funds and by providing seed or other funding for building, community, conference, and program initiatives, through endowment income.
The Frederick C. & Ruth L. Walker Heritage Foundation Committee (WHF) was established in 1989 for the purpose of establishing an endowment fund which would provide monies for building repair or enhancements.
In 2002, our Church Council approved expanding the scope of the committee to include three funds:
The Frederick C. & Ruth L. Walker Endowment Fund
Purpose: Building enhancements and initiatives
The Cheney / McAdam Endowment Fund
Purpose: Community and Conference initiatives
The Galt / Chase Endowment Fund
Purpose: Program initiatives
Members and friends of St. John’s church are encouraged to contribute to the building of these funds to provide opportunities for future facility upgrades, new church programs, and community involvement.
Goals:
- To develop an informational piece about the Walker Heritage Foundation and to see that all church members receive it and understand its purpose and funds.
- To provide ongoing publicity, articles, information gathering, and recognition of gifts.
- To offer two programs that will encourage members to contribute to our endowment funds.
- To investigate the possibilities for broadening the scope of our programs for older adults in support of the UMC focus on “Older Adult Ministries” and as a possible market area focus.
- To identify several building, community, conference, or program initiatives for possible future funding.
The WHF’s goal is to accomplish its purpose through educational programs and information which will encourage members to participate not only in the present, but also in the future of St. John’s United Methodist Church and its mission.
The three existing endowment funds are named after families who have not only provided significant support through their gifts and services in the past, but have given considerable thought to the future of our church.
We are pleased to recognize these families and to recognize them for their contributions, past, present, and future.
Ways to build our endowment:
Gift Annuities - Make a gift to St. John’s and increase your life income or provide life income for a loved one.
Wills - Provide for the future of St. John’s church by including the church in your will.
Tithing your will - Although you may not be able to tithe at this time, leaving 10% of your estate to the church through your will could play a significant role in providing for our church’s future members and families.
Other gifts - St. John’s has received many gifts in the past including gifts of personal property. All gifts are significant, and we thank those families who have made such contributions in the past.
We hope you will consider these options.
